Martin Crampin
Digital
imaging allows images in all kinds of media to be to transformed, juxtaposed and
layered in intriguing ways. Like archaeological layers and geological forms
which give clues to a lost past, my images suggest a historical process at work
through the vocabulary of visual tradition, while very much located in the
present. These images are informed by my own engagement with particular
historical subjects, such as the narrative tradition of the Welsh middle ages
and landscape archaeology, as well as the various University of Wales research
projects which I have contributed to: the Visual Culture of Wales and Imaging
the Bible in Wales.
